Civil law is a comprehensive system of rules prescribed under the civil procedure code. However, various civil matters are being dealt with under special laws and procedures. For instance, after enacting the Commercial Courts Act 2015, legal disputes that spring from commercial contracts or transactions are now being dealt explicitly with as commercial matters by commercial courts. Similarly, National Company Law Tribunal deals with corporate disputes, and family courts have jurisdiction over divorce matters.
